Who we are

The International Confederation of Principals (ICP) is the only global network of national school leader associations. It is dedicated to the development, support and promotion of school leadership.

ICP Strategic Plan 2024-2026

Our Executive

An elected Executive Committee shall work with the officers and staff of the ICP to carry out the work of the Council. The Executive Committee shall be made up of the President, Immediate Past- President/President-Elect, and five elected individuals who are current members of an ICP member organisation in good standing. An Executive Secretary may be secretary to the Executive Committee. (ICP Constitution)

Our Member Associations

Membership is open to any organisation of school leaders whose constitution contains nothing contrary to the Constitution of the International Confederation of Principals. ICP recognizes four global regions represented in the Executive: Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia/Oceania. ICP maintains relationships with several regional Principal umbrella-organizations as ESHA (Europe) and ACP (Africa).

Our Individual Members

Individual Members are leaders outside their country’s National Principal Associations, researchers, policy-makers or any other school leaders who want to support the work of ICP. Individual Members can participate in all events and activities, but unlike Full Members they do not hold voting rights or the possibility of being elected into the Executive Committee.

Our Life Members

Life membership is a very prestigious award within ICP and was established in 2006. Life members meet at least four of the following criteria developed and passed by the Perth Council in August 2016:

  1. Active participation in ICP for ten years or more
  2. Been a member of the ICP Executive for at least two years
  3. Served as President of ICP
  4. Recognised as an educational leader in the international environment
  5. Demonstrated considerable commitment to the furtherance of education internationally
  6. Professional character and conduct consistent with the aims and objectives of ICP.
