At the Adelaide Council Meeting, the group of participants from the Asia/Oceania Region developed the following action plan:
Area 3 - Networks, Communication and Partnership:
1 (a). Make contact with existing associations/organisations. Develop contact with emerging associations/organisations. Initiate the development of associations, sensitive to the notion that “association” may not be the right name.
1 (b). Connecting with existing organisations, outside education to scope activity within the region – identify finding sources, contacts, infrastructure, etc.
1 (c). Develop a model of how to increase membership within region.
2. Promotion:
- share our goals with other associations in the region.
- prepare and distribute a flyer inviting contact from interested Principals in the region.
- distributed at ICP conference in Singapore (put it on the seat).
- based on our vision/ values and principles.
3.Further develop our database.
4. Develop a time frame for action at Singapore Council Meeting. Draft to be circulated prior to Singapore. Task list developed – member allocated to task.
5. Ongoing process – developing contexts and needs. “How best to build the connection.”
6. Define our goals. When refined, to be shared with association and future contacts. Ongoing process; set targets; and link to time frame.
7. Report at each Council Meeting re new contacts, etc.
8. Determine the focus of regional activity.
9. Ensure that all activity is recorded and updated on website (should have the flexibility of blog).
Area 2: School leadership advocacy and development:
Once we have established contacts, then we determine priorities – existing links, i.e. Fiji, Indonesia or/and new ones. Matching our resources to the needs – where the needs are high. Priority matrix on needs and resources.
Determine our resources – ICP resources and resources of our organisations to contribute to leadership development.
Develop a database of resources.
Develop a badge for the region – ICP plus region. Asia Oceania. Network. What is it that we are going to do which is unique to us?
Mapping existing conferences within the region so that we can connect and target appropriate program focus, etc. (Connect conference hosting bodies to determine capacity and develop relationship).
